A Rub'A'Dub Sunday In Copenhagen
The Danish producer Søren Schou aka Pharfar is hardly a name unknown for the Reggae fans in Denmark, after producer two hit albums with the late Natasha and his own Dub-project Djosos Krost.
However in Europe, he still not that heard of - but that's quickly something that can change, especially after the release of the rhythm called Morning and the upcoming album with veteran rudeboy Mykal Rose, which is entirely produced by Pharfar. Besides that he has three tracks on a recent German Reggae compilation released by BMG - so the times are a changing for the young Dane. This is also something you can hear on his latest productions, which easily matches the ones from the vast amount of European producers around.
His lates album is simply called Pharfar Presents: A Rub'A'Dub Sunday In Copenhagen - and is a compilation on selected Pharfar productions from the last couple of years - and features artists (like Horace Andy, Johnny Clarke, John Holt, Mykal Rose, Sugar Minott and others) who have performed during the last 5-6 years on the hottest Sunday Reggae club in Copenhagen - Rub'A'Dub Sundays.
A Rub'A'Dub Sunday contains a selection of tunes, that performs very well on the dancefloor and catches the atmosphere in the club, where chilling Roots Reggae is the main factor, performed by some of the finest voices in Reggae music. Especially Echo Minott's Judge & Jury and Warror Kings' Signs Of The Times on the Morning rhythm stand out - and they are probably some of the best productions I've heard from Pharfar so far.
A Rub'A'Dub Sunday In Copenhagen is a typical Pharfar production with it's minimalistic sound and deep base, but this time it's on edge with what you find available from countries like Germany, France and Italy. The unnecessary material is gone - and what you have is the cream of the crop from some of the best productions Denmark can offer.
