A Little Bit More
Dennis Emmanuel Brown is still deeply missed after his untimely death in 1999 – only 42 years old. Before this a long fruitful teamwork with producer Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson has resulted in a series of soon to be classic albums with Brown at the microphone including Visions, Joseph’s Coat Of Many Colours and Spellbound.
Brown’s combination of serious "message" songs and soul-wailing love melodies was irresistible, which can be heard to the fullest on the newly released 12 inch compilation CD on 17 North Parade titled A Little Bit More. The Gibbs produced album features 12 tracks from the crucial period of 1978 – 1983 including bombshells like Equal Rights Style and Running Up & Down by Brown and D.J. Big Youth, Ain’t That Loving You by Brown and Kojak & Liza, Girl I've Got A Date by Dennis Brown & Trinity and extended dub versions of old time classics like Your Love’s Gotta Hold On Me, Three Meals A Day, The Man Next Door and many more making this album one of my old time Brown favourites.
