It is truly difficult to categorize the new album from the new super star in Dancehall music Busy Signal. Not only has be been a frequent guest at the number one spot on the Jamaican singles chart with hits like These Are The Days and Jail (Nah Go A Jail) - he has also had a major breakthrough in Europe how are always a bit cautious with Dancehall and historically always been more of a Roots areas - but names like Mavado and Busy Signal has definitely changed this.
The third album from B-B-Busy Signal and first on VP Records (second if you count the VP/Greensleeves merge) is entitled Loaded and is a 15 track lethal Dancehall weapon, that doesn't fail to reach the danceable audience as well as the gangster hidden inside. But is also shows a more socially minded Dancehall artist with more and more focus on the backside of the outlaws and the life way beyond Sunshine Reggae and the Island In The Sun.
Tunes like the never failing Wine Pon Di Edge, Unknown Number and a long time favorite of mine Real Jamaicans alongside rudeboy Mykal Rose are just a few among the vast amount of single potentials on the album. Oddly thought, the weakest song off the album Tic Toc was in fact the first singe on the album, but I guess it's an American thing.
When picking up Loaded you not only pick up a high class, well produced slice of the gully side, you also get a piece of some of the best Dancehall music made on this side of the 2000s. This album is a diehard must to all fans of Dancehall. You will not get disappointed.
