True Reflections
OK – let's clear up one thing. Jah Cure's album True Reflections – A New Beginning, released on VP Records is probably the most anticipated album this year. And why is that? He might be one of the most gifted singers coming out of Jamaica for a very, very long time. So let's skip straight to the review of the album, as I have eagerly been awaiting True Reflections my self. And I honestly must say that I'm a bit disappointed with the album.
Not that it's bad – the songs a quite good actually – but I'd expect from the the title "A New Beginning" that we would have plenty of new songs, but you get less than a handful – which really doesn't ring anyone's bells. You don't even have Sticky, which might have done something for the album. With this in mind, don't let you get fooled of the exceedingly nice songs that are, indeed, feature on True Reflections. The title track speaks for it self, but songs like Longing For, Nuh Build Great Men (alongside Fantan Mojah), Love Is, Most High Cup Full etc. They are all there – which makes it an very good album.
Unfortunately the album sounds like it has been rushed through the production, and some of the songs actually sounds like they have been voiced within prison walls, and that's not good. And the lack of new songs doesn't quite meet my expectations of this album, especially not if you, like me, are in possession of various compilations released during the last 2-3 years.
