25.02.09 :: Summerjam 2009: Update 4
A new treat for anyone thinking about coming to Summerjam this year is up, as UB40 has confirmed their arrival to Fühlinger See in Cologne. As you might know, the former leadinger and signature voice of UB40, Ali Campell left the band in 2008, which has paved the way for a new contellation of members, which now includes new vocalist Duncan Campell (younger brother og Ali and Robin) and Maxi Priest. Maxi Priest is a vetaran in British reggae - and has had several world wide hits.
Another fameous act has comfirmed - and this is Barrington Levy. For many years we at RXP have wanted to see this man in action - and it seems like we're going to, as he will perform on the festival in 2009. Barrington Levy is one of the old guys in reggae music - an has been active for three decades now.
Last but not least is a new name to us at RXP. Michael Franti & Spearhead is a popular act in the bay-area in the USA, and plays modern reggae music with a dancehall twist.

24.02.09 :: Rockers Soon On Blu-Ray
The classic and legendary film Rockers from 1978 which features artists such as Burning Spear, Gregory Isaacs, Dillinger, Leroy Smart, Big You, Sly & Robbie and many others will soon be available in HD on BLU-RAY discs.
The crew behind the film, has gotten access to the origital 35mm. The bonus material includes subtitles in French, Spanish, Japanese and our favorite language: Jamaican Patois

12.02.09 :: Summerjam 2009: Update 3
The reggae act Tiken Jah Fakoly has confirmed Summerjam 2009, which will be a great pleasure to experience again, after a fantastic performance in 2007 with full band.
Tiken Jah Fakoly is not well known outside France and hos motherland Ivory Coast, but this doesn't change people view on his music.
Being very focused on the roots nature of his reggae, Fakoly makes some of the toughest reggae music you find since the early days of Burning Spear.
The albums Cours d'histoire and Franc'Afrique are some of the best roots reggae albums coming out of Africa that we know of, during the last 10 years or so.

04.02.09 :: Reggae Grammy Nominations 2009
The Grammy Award nominees was revealed a while ago - but we at the RXP was not sure if we wanted to mention this, as we this year, as well as all previous years have been rather dissapointed with the nominees in the Reggae category.
This year the nominatinos are:
Burning Spear - Jah Is Real
Elephant Man - Let’s Get Physical
Heavy D - Vibes
Lee “Scratch” Perry - Repentance
Shaggy - Intoxication
Sly & Robbie - Amazing
Burning Spear, Lee Perry, Shaggy and Sly & Robbie has all won the Grammy before, and some of them have even won the Grammy several times before. This leaves with the rest of the pack and there is no change in hell that Elephant Man and Heavy D will win one sought after award. Many are missing out on the list!
04.02.09 :: Summerjam 2009: Update 2
The respected band and most true to the rap-roots, Arrested Development, haling from Atlanta, Georgia, has confirmed their arrival to this years Summerjam.
Arrested Development broke through in 1992 with they system critical album 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of..., which was also the time it took the band to get a record deal with Chrysalis Records. This album launched 3 Top 10 hits in the US, with memorable songs like Tennessee, Everyday People and a personal favorite Mr. Wendal.
The band is recognized for their live performances, always with a full band ensemple - and is a surefire treat for the fesitval.
