01.07.09 :: Rub'A'Dub Sundays Closing Down
It's we regret that I write the news about the closure of the longest running weekly reggae gig in Copenhagen - Rub'A'Dub Sundays. Due to political decisions in the town hall the venue also known as Stengade 30 is on the bound to shut down - and that is why the crew behind Rub'A'Dub Sundays decided to throw the last party on Sunday, June 28, 2009.
Rub'A'Dub Sundays was a catalyst on the modern Danish Reggae scene with a solid crowd of regulars, who was ready to give young and upcoming sound system a change to show their skill in front of an excited crowd and sound systems like Reggaehagen, Rootsman Hi-Fi, Firehouse, Unity Hi-Fi, People's Choice, Universal, DubCity, Yute Rockers, Youngblood, Kali-Ma, Donkey Sound and many others has played there. But also big live acts like Natasja Saad, Busy Signal, Aidonia, Ward 21, Bitty McLean, Jah Mason, Horace Andy, DeMarco as well as solid international sound systems like Jack Scorpio, Sentinel, Pow Pow, Massive B, David Rodigan has stopped by.
But there are still Reggae going on in Copenhagen - as weekly events are taking place at Saxon's Café, Folkets Hus, Kødbyen as well as other spontaneous events are popping up.
reggaeXplosion remembers Rub'A'Dub Sundays.
Yours sincerely
